Terms of service.
Last updated: May 25, 2026
These are the rules of the road for using Twiggybank. They are written in plain English wherever possible. If anything looks unfair or unclear, write to us — we'd rather know.
About these terms
By creating a Twiggybank account, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree to them, don’t use Twiggybank. If you use Twiggybank on behalf of a family, you agree to these terms on behalf of every member you add.
These terms incorporate our Privacy Policy and Children’s Privacy Notice by reference. Read them too.
Twiggybank is not a financial institution
This is the most important clause in this document, and we want it to be impossible to miss.
Twiggybank is not a bank. We are not a chartered financial institution. We are not a money transmitter. We are not a payment processor. We do not hold any of your money. We do not issue cards. We do not move funds between accounts. We have no relationship with the FDIC, the SEC, the CFPB, or any equivalent regulator outside the United States.
Every figure displayed in the Twiggybank app is monopoly money— an educational simulation of balances and transactions, recorded in a ledger we maintain. Nothing settles cash. No real-world payment occurs as a result of any action inside Twiggybank.
You should not rely on Twiggybank as a record of any real-world financial obligation. If your family settles allowance in cash or through some other channel, that settlement happens outside Twiggybank, and we have no record of it.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create a Twiggybank account as a parent. Children may use Twiggybank only as part of a family created by a parent who has consented on their behalf.
Twiggybank is intended for personal, family use. Don’t use it to run a business, a club’s books, or anyone else’s finances.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access (security@twiggybank.com).
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it current. We may suspend or close accounts that contain materially false information.
Your content
You own the ledger you create inside Twiggybank. We claim no ownership over your family data. We hold and process it on your behalf so that the app works.
You grant us a limited license to store, transmit, and display your data to operate the service. That’s it — we don’t use it for anything else.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Twiggybank to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on the seriousness of the violation.
Service availability
We work hard to keep Twiggybank running, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, upgrades, third-party outages, and the occasional bug all happen. We will not be liable for losses caused by service unavailability, but we will tell you about it when we can.
Termination
You can close your family account at any time from the app settings, or by emailing us. We can close your account if you violate these terms or use the service in a way that creates legal or operational risk.
On termination, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
Twiggybank is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Nothing in Twiggybank constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Decisions you make about your family’s real money are your own.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to Twiggybank is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim — or, if you haven’t paid us anything, one hundred US dollars (whichever is greater).
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, lost profits, or lost goodwill, even if we knew such damages were possible.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you and we each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Changes to these terms
We’ll update these terms from time to time. When the changes are material, we’ll notify you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Twiggybank after the effective date means you accept the new terms; if you don’t, you can close your account first.
